Due to the success of the workshops done by MAG LAB at AIU "Arab International University" faculty of architecture, Prof.Dr.Mohamad Yasser Al Aioubi / head of industrial design department invited M.Arch.Aref Maksoud as director of MAG LAB to direct and teach with him in intensive workshop at facultyoffine arts/industrial design department /AIU - Arab International University.

MAG LAB, Syria – Spain – Italy (Materials- Advanced Architecture – Generative Laboratory) as a part of Maksoud Architectural Group,
Authorized training center of McNeel in Syria and the Middle East through its affiliate offices, is pleased to announce you the results of the "Industrial Design + Technology" workshop which took place in Damascus - Syria on February 22-27 .2011. AIU - Arab International University / Faculty of fine arts.


Synopsis

The workshop “Industrial Design + Technology / Fabrication Towards innovative performance and design "organized by MAGLAB in collaboration with AIU.

The aim of this workshop was to introduce the students to a digitally driven approach to industrial design and The task of the Workshop was to design and build:
skin For jewelry design and Eco Form object such as furniture element. 
getting advantage from parametrical software (3DSMAX) Students investigate general issues of the digital world as well as of contemporary design.
 
The Workshop was configured in Lectures and digital tools classes which interweaved with practical work throughout 5 days full time work.
•    Throughout the workshop, students  were introduced to the fields of industrial design and the newest tools and strategies which has always been popular in industries that require high
•    accuracy modeling like jewelry, accessories, automotive design and furniture design.
•    With the development and affordability of CAD/CAM machines and processes, students realized the new markets emerged in the field of industrial design.
•    Students Explored computational techniques in the context of industrial design and did experiments with 3d studio MAX  and Rhino to investigate emergent properties and characteristics in computationallydefined systems.
